Can Myofunctional therapy exercises be considered a treatment for speech problems?

Myofunctional therapy can be used in conjunction with speech therapy, but should not replace it.  Myofunctional therapy helps to strengthen the muscles used in speech.  If the muscles of the lips and tongue are improperly postured, it may prevent a person from forming normal speech sounds.
